About you

As a Management Accountant at Rouse, you will be involved in financial planning and analysis, setting up and optimising accounting systems, budget management, cost analysis and control, and financial reporting within your portfolio of clients. This might include monitoring key performance indicators, contributing to strategic planning, and identifying process improvement opportunities to enhance our clients’ operational and financial performance.

This vacancy has the potential to be a ‘Management Accountant’ position or ‘Senior Management Accountant’ position, based on the career experience of the successful candidate.

The role

This role and job tasks will be tailored to the experience level of the successful candidate and may include:

  • Overseeing/carrying out bookkeeping and data processing using accounting systems of the client or appropriate accounting system.
  • Overseeing management of purchase ledger, sales ledger and nominal ledgers.
  • Regular reconciliation of all control accounts.
  • Overseeing/calculating and processing monthly journals for prepayment/ accruals/depreciation/payroll and other monthly adjustments.
  • Overseeing/preparation of VAT returns for review and sign off.
  • Completing assignments for clients, managers & supervisors.
  • Preparing management accounts in required format on a quarterly or monthly basis for clients.
  • Completing monthly/quarterly reporting pack including P& L ,B/S , budgets and actual, debtors/creditors aging analysis, cashflow and commentary.
  • Assisting with budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing accounting systems and suggesting improvement or alternative accounting systems where applicable.
  • Implementing appropriate accounting systems and advise on improvement where needed.
  • Delivering training to clients and junior team members.
  • Managing portfolio to ensure work completed to client’s timetable expectations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of end of year accounts file and audit schedules.
  • Managing a team and their workload and development.

Essential Skills and Experience

This vacancy has the potential to be a mid or senior level management accountant position depending on your experience. Key skills and experience for a successful candidate include:

  • Previous experience in a management accounting or relevant bookkeeping role, within a practice or industry setting.
  • Communicating effectively at all levels with colleagues and clients.
  • Technically up to date and able to use experience and judgement to make recommendations / suggest improvements in processes and procedures.
  • Effective use of IT including excel, accounts packages, outlook.
  • Awareness of relevant financial targets and constraints and contributes to achieving these.
  • Organising and managing time efficiently and effectively.
  • Delegating work and keeping line manager informed of progress and potential problems, including actual vs budget.
  • Documenting work clearly and concisely, and highlighting potential business opportunities to line manager.
